Mumbai: The Punjab National Bank's (PNB) Brady House branch where a massive $1.8 billion fraud was unearthed, in Mumbai on Feb 15, 2018. A day after a massive $1.8 billion fraud was unearthed in the flagship branch, the Enforcement Directorate launched a nationwide raid on billionaire diamond trader Nirav Modi the offices, showrooms and workshops.The multi-pronged action came a day after the Punjab National Bank admitted to unearthing a fraud of Rs 11,515 crore involving Modi's companies and certain other accounts with the bank's flagship branch (Brady House) in Mumbai and its second largest lending window in India.The fraud, which includes money-laundering among others, concerns the Firestar Diamonds group in which the CBI last week booked Modi, his wife Ami, brother Nishal and a maternal uncle Mehul Choksi.It is learnt that Modi - whose operations are spread across Europe, the US, Middle East and Far East besides India - has written to PNB and other banks that he would return their outstandings. ભારતની સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટે જનહિતના મામલે પંજાબ નેશનલ બેન્કની વિરુધ્ધ જનહિતની અરજી દાખલ કરી છે. અરજીમાં અરજદારે ભારતની પીએનબી બેન્કમાંથી કરોડો રૂપિયાની છેતરપિંડી કરનારા વેપારી નીરવ મોદી અને મેહુલ ચોકસીને વિદેશમાંથી પકડીને ભારત પરત લાવીને તેમની પર કાયદેસર પગલાં લેવાની માગણી કરી હતી.
કેન્દ્રીય નાણાં મંત્ર્યાલય દ્વારા બેન્કોને અપાતી લોન બાબત એક ચોક્કસ ગાઈડલાઈન નક્કી કરવામાં આવવી જોઈએ એવું સૂચન પણ કરવામાં આવ્યું છે.
આ પિટિશનની સુનાવણી ચીફ જસ્ટિસ શ્રી દીપક મિશ્રાની અધ્યક્ષતામાં ત્રમ ન્યાયાધીશોની ખંડપીઠ કરી રહી છે. આગામી 16 માર્ચના સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટ એની સુનાવણી કરશે.
